Zombie Air Force Upgrade Order: Earn Credits and Choose a Role
Choose an early upgrade around your combat role, separate squad problems from purchase needs and budget for earned aircraft progression.
In Zombie Air Force, put your early Credits into the tool you intend to keep using, then develop a second role after the first has a clear purpose. This upgrade order is an editorial spending priority: earn Credits and XP through play, choose a combat job, and unlock upgrades that support that job instead of spreading purchases across the whole tree.
This gameplay introduction gives context for the aircraft-and-frontline jobs behind that spending choice.
First: develop the job you already use
If you spend most of a battle attacking from an aircraft, prioritize that combat tool before an unrelated defense purchase. If your squad relies on you to support the line with defenses, put that responsibility first instead. This keeps a small early budget connected to actions you will repeat next session.
Do not buy an upgrade solely because it is the first affordable item you see. You are choosing what to develop, not trying to collect a purchase from every branch. Over 180 upgrades make a focused early goal more useful than treating the entire tree as an immediate shopping list.
Second: separate a purchase problem from a squad problem
| Problem in the battle | First priority | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your main combat tool is the job you want to continue | Develop that tool before spreading Credits elsewhere. | The next purchase supports an action you already use. |
| Every player chased the same enemy | Agree on target and horde coverage before buying. | A purchase does not assign squad attention. |
| You want a specialized aircraft | Decide whether you need access or an earned upgrade. | An aircraft pass and its upgrade tree are separate commitments. |
When the failure was coordination, fix that agreement first. If the issue was that your chosen tool needs development, read its actual purchase effect and price before committing Credits. That distinction prevents you from spending to solve a problem the purchase cannot address.
Third: keep earned progression in the budget
The Grimhawk pass grants the aircraft without Credits, medals or honors, but its upgrade tree still needs to be earned. The Little Bird likewise grants immediate aircraft access while leaving upgrades in its Armoury tree. Buying either aircraft does not finish your progression plan.
Joining fresh green beans gives +10% XP and Credits, which can support future sessions. Keep your purchase order based on the Credits you have rather than an assumed combined bonus total. Return to battle with one specific job in mind, and let that job explain your next spending decision.
The upgrade tree guide explains aircraft access versus earned trees. Use weapon upgrades when your next goal is developing the Little Bird's combat loadout.
